Adopting AI into Your Workflow
Welcome to Edition #02 of THE BLUEPRINT
The last newsletter covered Artificial Intelligence, its impact on productivity, and how to stay informed and educated on this upcoming technology shift.
Today, we will discuss how to form and maintain an opportunity mindset.
Many are fearful of the changes to come with AI. “Will I lose my job?!” This is a common statement.
On the contrary, I encourage you to think differently. Consider these two questions:
1) How will my job become more efficient if I adopt artificial intelligence?
There are certain things in your future/current job that you don’t love to do - it doesn’t give you energy - that have the potential for being automated. Using AI systems to do these tasks automatically will free up time, and your energy will be focused on more enjoyable, energy-giving tasks.
2) With this increased efficiency, how will I use my time to be more productive and create value?
Instead of spending your time on energy-draining activities, you now have the opportunity to put more effort into what you care about. Perhaps you’ll have more time to learn or self-develop. Or maybe growing your team or launching into a new marketing channel?
As artificial intelligence technology continues to enter everyday society, we must view it as our strongest ally rather than a threat.
Remember this key point: AI’s takeover will not be instantaneous! We already see small integrations, such as company chatbots for internal and external use, Google and Meta AI ad personalization, and Midjourney or DALL-E for creative. This being said, you can be gradual with your learning and implementation as well.
View the Technology Adoption Life Cycle below:
This graph explains that as a new technology is introduced to the market, innovators will be the first to buy, followed by early adopters shortly after. The chasm is the jump technology has to make before it enters the mainstream market. Then it reaches the early majority, late majority, and the laggards. Some people will resist the change and never adopt it.
Artificial Intelligence has crossed the chasm and is now in the early majority. With systems and automations easy to use for anyone, even without a tech background, the barrier to entry is minimal. And as more individuals, businesses, and companies adopt, the time to implement yourself to stay ahead of the curve is diminishing.
Each group has its characteristics. When adopting AI, I urge you to view your adoption gauge because it will determine success, opportunity, and longevity. Rewiring how you view AI is the most important mindset shift you can make. Seeing it as an opportunity instead of a threat will create interest, leading you to learn and implement.
Action Steps:
Today, identify an activity in your life that can be automated and figure out how to do it. By creating efficiencies in your daily routine, you’ll start to recognize your power in freeing up time and letting systems work for you. This will open your mind to how AI can be applied to your personal life and business.
If you can’t think of something to automate, then start something! This concept is that important.
